My second day at Click Away were filled with photographing and learning about branding. My first class of the day was with Mecca Gamble. The title of the class was “Become a Brand Boss: Defining Your Personal Brand”. During the class, Mecca explained to us that beginning the process of defining your brand can be a vulnerable time. You have to come face-to-face with who you are as an individual. You have to see who you are as a person. You think about your strengths as well as areas of improvement. You need to trust the process, and realize that defining your brand will take time.
The class was raw and very personal. We shared our truths and stories that we have not shared with others. We laughed and cried. Mecca explained to us that if we aren’t real with ourselves in determining our brand how can clients begin to trust us.
Mecca provided us with a workbook with exercises that helped us get to the core of the person you are. You cannot define your brand if you don’t know who you are. I wrote down some facts about myself that I’m not too proud of, but I am working to improve those areas of my personality. I can honestly tell you that I was happy with the exercise by the end of the class.
My second class of the day was also with Mecca, and it was a posing class with a couple. I enjoyed learning how Mecca interacts with her clients, and how she takes into account everything about the scene. Although the class had to end early because of a medical emergency with one of the models, I did capture a couple of behind the scene images. I also made some new friends.
By the end of the day, I was exhausted, but excited about my last class. It was taught by Audrey Woulard, and it was about capturing images in bad light. Actually, the class was during golden hour, and it was beautiful. I personally love shooting during golden hour. The group was large so I really didn’t capture too many images. We had to walk from the hotel to Piedmont Park, and the idea of walking back made me tired. However, I loved how Audrey taught, and I loved learning how she handles light.
All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed Click Away. The classes were amazing, and the instructors were so helpful. I had the opportunity to connect with online friends and to make new ones.
