Today, I want to share with you the deeply personal journey that led me to focus on women’s portraiture. This niche is not just a profession for me, but a passion born from my own experiences of self-neglect and rediscovery.
Several years ago, my world was shaken to its core when my husband suffered a debilitating stroke. It happened right before the Pandemic. In the midst of caring for him and navigating the challenges of our new reality, I lost Tina. I found myself consumed by guilt if I dared to enjoy even the smallest pleasures in life, like indulging in a meal at a restaurant or taking a moment for myself.
I know many of you can relate to this feeling of self-neglect, of putting everyone else’s needs above your own and feeling guilty for wanting more. It’s a predicament that countless women find themselves in, whether it’s due to caregiving responsibilities, societal pressures, or simply the demands of everyday life.
But amidst the chaos and the self-imposed guilt, I had a realization: I am special, and I deserve to enjoy the life I’ve been blessed to have. It was a simple yet profound epiphany that sparked a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. I didn’t get there overnight, but I did find my way. It took prayer, inflection, and therapy.
Through women’s portraiture, I found my voice. I discovered a way to honor not just the women in front of my camera, but also myself. Each portrait session became an opportunity to celebrate the beauty, resilience, and strength that exists within every woman – including myself.
I understand the struggles that you face because I’ve been there. I know what it’s like to lose sight of yourself in the midst of life’s challenges. I also know that it’s possible to reclaim your power, embrace your worthiness, and celebrate the incredible woman that you are.
So, to every woman reading this, I want you to know that you are not alone. You are worthy of love, of joy, and of celebrating yourself. You are special, and your story deserves to be told – through empowering portraits that capture the essence of who you are.
Together, let’s rewrite the narrative of self-neglect and guilt. Let’s embrace our uniqueness, our beauty, and our strength. And let’s create a world where every woman feels seen, heard, and celebrated.
It’s time to honor yourself. You are fearfully and wonderfully made.
XO,
Tina
