Over the last month, I have scheduled Time for Print sessions for three reasons. The first was to become more comfortable with my camera. The second reason was to create content, and lastly, I needed an outlet for my stress.
I reached out to my local woman’s photographers’ group, and asked if anyone wanted content images for their social media. One of the ladies responded to the post. Her name is Tika Cook, and she’s the principal photographers for Tika Creations. Tika shoots headshots and video for actors in the Austin area. We met last year at the annual Black Female Photographers Day. Tika and I scheduled to meet early on a Sunday morning. Our backdrop was the Arboretum in Austin. It’s one of my favorite locations.
For this session, I wanted to use both natural light and Off Camera Flash. The first time that I used OCF with my Sony was the very first portrait session with my new camera. I was anxious to use it again. I brought my Godox AD 200 and a beauty dish for the session. Looking back, I should have brought a larger modifier, but I’m still pleased with the results.
Tika was a joy to photography. She knew her angles, and how to pose. One of the things that I wanted to make sure I captured was her personality. I wanted the images to reflect the Tika that her clients know, and introduce her to new clients. I think that I captured Tika’s personality.
