A couple of weeks ago, I was cruising Instagram, and saw a post from one of my favorite photographers. She’s a boudoir photographer, and shared an image of one of her favorite body suits that she purchased from Amazon. I visited the site, and really liked the top. I looked through the rest of the suggested images, and decided upon two different styles. As soon as I selected the two styles, I was inspired to put together a photo session. Initially, I came up with two looks. The first was the body shoot with a black tutu and faux vest The second look was the same body suit and vest, but with distressed blue jeans. It was the day before the shoot when I came up with the third look. I have a leopard skirt that I thought would look great with the body suit and a blue jean jacket. Perfect!
I put together a mood board for the shoot, and posted it in one of my Facebook groups. The response was great to the session. I had about eight models respond positively to the Time for Print call. The model that I selected was named Rebecca. I chose her because I liked her look, and we also have the same middle name. We selected a day and time for the session, and I put it into my calendar.
Since finding the Chisholm Trail earlier this year, I immediately knew that I wanted to shoot a session in that location. It has water and stone which are two elements that I am drawn to in my sessions. I love the strength of stone and the fluidity of the water. I packed my lighting gear and my new wagon. I’ve wanted this wagon for the last four years, and I found a great deal on Amazon on Black Friday. It made transporting my gear to the site so much easier.
Our first look was the tutu, bodysuit, and faux fur vest. I gave Rebecca the theme of the shoot, picked out the music, and began the session. She was amazing! She moved well, and gave suggestions on different poses. I am always happy when a model contributes to the session. I used OCF and the natural light as well throughout the session. My goal is to incorporate both more into each of my sessions.
The second look was the animal print skirt, bodysuit, and blue jean vest. It looked amazing on Rebecca. When I style a shoot, it’s usually something that I would wear. I could definitely see myself wearing the outfit for a session. We selected another area on the trail so that there were more trees and brush behind Rebecca. We even found a stone that looked like a little stage. It was perfect.
The last look was the faux fur vest, bodysuit, and distressed jeans. For this look, we walked over to a bridge. It was a little challenging to get the shots because of the bridge’s width, and the foot traffic. However, we did manage to pull it off.
I can foresee working with Rebecca again in the future. We both want to do a water shoot. Now, I just have to develop the concept.
