We’ve lived in the Austin area for six months now, and I haven’t started my business yet. The main reason is the cost of setting it up. It’s more than I thought, and I have to budget it in. For now, there are other priorities. I also have a big trip coming up in March. Initially, I was upset that I couldn’t officially kick-off my business, and I beat myself up over it. Realizing what I was doing, I stopped. There’s a reason for waiting until 2020, and I accepted it.
So, what am I doing to stay behind the camera? I’m shooting Time for Print for my personal projects. I’m a member of a Facebook group comprised of models, photographers, stylists, and makeup artists here in the Austin area. I’ve been able to work with several models from that pool of resources. I have also completed some self-portraits. One was for my birthday a couple of weeks ago. I decided to dress up for this portrait which is something that I haven’t done. I wore a bodysuit that I purchased for a personal project, and finished off the look with my black tutu. My portable backdrop was used to give the images a polished look. I’m very happy with the end results.
