It’s been a month since we made the move from Arizona to Texas. A month of learning our new town, and trying to acclimate to the humidity. After living in the desert for 14 years, this is an adjustment that’s been quite challenging.
I’ve decided to take the summer off so that I can get acclimated to my new home; learn my way around; and make sure that my business is ready to operate in Texas. However, I knew that I would soon feel the needed to get behind my camera. Self-portraits are great, but there’s nothing like having someone in front of my lens.
Before leaving Arizona, I joined a couple of stylized photo shoot groups in the Austin area. During my first week, I saw a stylized photo shoot based upon one of my favorite series, Stranger Things. I knew that I had to be part of it! This would provide an opportunity to meet other creatives, and create art. I immediately signed up. The shoot was planned by Carissa Rumps of The Wild Rumpus Collective. There were two sessions. The first was an engagement session, and it was set in an arcade. The second session was a wedding. I signed up for the engagement session.
The session was a lot of fun. I used both my Sony and my Nikon. I wanted to put the Sony through its paces, and I wanted to photograph something outside of nature! It took some time to adjust, and I became a little frustrated. However, I didn’t let that stop me.
Here are a few of the images from the session. Below, are the other creatives who participated in the engagement session.
