We’ve been in the Austin area for a little over a month, and it still feels as if we’re visiting. When we moved to Phoenix, I had the same feeling. I’m not sure when the feeling dissipated. It’s hard to describe. You get up every day and perform daily routines, but it feels surreal.
I decided to take the summer off for my business. I wanted to become more acquainted with our new home. It’s also my plan to ensure that all of my contracts are in order, and that I establish my business the correct way. I also need to learn about locations for sessions.
Since moving here, I’ve been on a quest to find water. During some of our car trips around the area, I would see water, but never figure out how to get to it. Well, that changed on Saturday. drove down a portion of the Chisolm Trail, and saw water! If you aren’t sure of the history, you should google it. I pulled into a small parking lot, and got out to walk around. I was treated with a lovely little dam in a beautiful area. I could envision sessions in this area, and it isn’t too far away from where we live. I couldn’t explore too much because I was wearing sandals and a dress. I did manage to snap a couple of frames with my camera.
On Sunday, my husband and I ventured further into Austin. First, we went to the Sekrit Theater. I was a little surprised that it was in a neighborhood. We couldn’t go in because it’s by appointment only. It’s definitely a location that I want to shoot. I have a self-portrait in mind once I receive a dress that I ordered.
After leaving the Sekrit Theater, we traveled to another location called Bull Creek Park. It was amazing! However, parking was difficult. It was a beautiful day, and people were enjoying the water. We couldn’t get as close as I would have liked, but we still managed to explore a small area. I could definitely see myself returning to this area.
This won’t be the last time that we go out exploring. Lord willing, we’ll have another excursion in the next two weeks.
