It’s been over almost two months since we moved to the Austin, Texas area, and it still feels as if we’re visiting. I’ve met several photographers, attended a couple of group photo shoots, and explored different locations for future photo sessions. This past weekend was another expedition session. Initially, we were going to the Farmers’ Market in Cedar Park, but we didn’t get dressed in time. So, we decided to explore Georgetown. I specifically wanted to visit the San Gabriel River. I have this thing for water, and I enjoy photography sessions near or in the water.
Georgetown is off IH 35 in the Austin area. The day was overcast, and I was concerned that our excursion would get rained out. Our first stop was Blue Hole Park. The San Gabriel North River runs through the park. When we got out of the car, it began to sprinkle. We didn’t let that stop us. As we made our way down to the river, we could see families enjoying the water and the day. There were people in the water splashing around, and other families having picnics. We walked down a little further away from the small crowd, and saw a man on an inflatable river float. He was floating away from the crowds, and enjoying the solitude.
Once we left Blue Hole Park, we drove to downtown Georgetown. We parked the car, and I grabbed my camera. The town didn’t disappoint. It was filled with history, and had several historical markers with tons of information. As we walked around, I could see so many potential areas for photo shoots. I could also see the area used for branding images as well. We completed our photo walk by having lunch at The Monument Restaurant.
After lunch we headed home, but I wanted to make another stop. This time, I wanted to go back to the Chisholm trail. I wanted to find out how to get to a bridge. We parked the car, and walked across the Chisholm Trail. We were able to see the round rock for which the town Round Rock is named, and found another way to Brushy Creek. We followed the path, and saw the bridge. My husband said that I could probably reach the bridge with fewer obstacles if I approached it from Round Rock Memorial Park. He was absolutely correct, and this made my day.
The day was a success. We found the water. I have more locations for photo shoots, and I spent the day with my husband.
