It’s been two months since I had someone in front my camera. The main reason is because of the “Shelter in Place”. Photography wasn’t an essential business, and I wanted to observe the guidelines. I wanted to flatten the curve, and I wanted to protect myself. Restrictions were lifted here in Texas about three weeks ago, and I could feel the itch to get behind the camera again.
Last month, I purchased a dress from @rent_from_lael. She rents beautiful gowns and dresses, and there are times when she purges her inventory by selling dresses. When I saw this dress, I knew that I had to have it in my client wardrobe. I put out a call in one of my photography groups that I really needed to get someone in front of my lens, and one of the ladies, Venice, volunteered to sit for me. I knew the location for the session would be the Sekrit Theater. It’s become my favorite location for sessions, and I knew that we would have the place to ourselves. Even with this information, I planned on wearing a mask.
While cruising Instagram, I saw another dress from @rent_from_lael that was absolutely gorgeous! It was so pretty and girly, and I knew that I had to photograph it. I rented it from the company, and told the model that we were going to have a second dress for the session.
We started the session with the rented girly dress. It looks as if it’s made of feathers, and I would so wear it myself for a session. The dress looks like me! The first location was in the greenhouse. I always like starting my sessions in the greenhouse. We then moved to another location of the garden where the bathtub and chandelier are located. The dress was a perfect complement, and there was a nice breeze which was much needed. I hadn’t counted on the Texas humidity! My model was a trooper, and we both pushed through.
I was so pleased with the images. The only downside were the images that I shot with my Sigma Art 24-70. None of them were in focus, and it makes me angry. I’m not sure what I did. Today, I photographed an orange, and it was sharp. I’ll just have to keep working on it. I used two camera bodies so that I had images using my Sigma Art 85mm. It’s my favorite portrait lens.
