I really don’t listen to pop music. Primarily, I listen to Christian music, but of late, my Spotify channel consists of the music from my youth. I could not tell you who the most popular artists are, or what songs that they sing. However, I am familiar with the song “Easy on Me” by Adele. I didn’t know that this was her first album in quite some time. When I heard the lyrics to “Easy On Me”, I was driving. I broke down and cried in the car. Oh, my goodness! The emotion and the lyrics hit home and fit this current season in my life with my husband! I cannot recall how many times I played that song. I was a mess by the time I parked the car. I knew that this song would be the inspiration for my next self-portrait.
The lighting for this image was a no-brainer. The image had to be moody. I exposed for the ambient light and added my strobe. The shutter speed was 1/80s, and my aperture was f/3.2. The ISO was 200. I placed the light about five feet away, and camera left. I set-up interval shooting, and let the song play on repeat.
I was very pleased with the outcome as the images conveyed my exact emotions.
Lyrics
“You can’t deny how hard I’ve tried
I changed who I was to put you both first
But now I give up” – Adele’s “Easy On Me”
